Zachary’s Jewelers Launches $5,000 Small Business Grant to Celebrate Local Community Impact

Annapolis, MD – May 29, 2025 — Zachary’s Jewelers is proud to announce the launch of the Zachary’s Jewelers Small Business Grant, a new initiative designed to celebrate and support the local small business community. The grant will award $5,000 to one outstanding local business that demonstrates a deep commitment to uplifting their community, supporting their employees, and bringing humanity to the retail experience.

“For more than 30 years, we’ve been fortunate to grow alongside a vibrant network of small business owners right here in our community,” said Steve Samaras, Owner of Zachary’s Jewelers. “This grant is our way of honoring their impact and paying forward the support we've received since our very first day.”

Open to businesses based in Anne Arundel County and surrounding areas, the grant encourages applicants to respond to a simple but powerful question at the heart of Zachary’s mission:

“What more can we do to bring humanity to retail?”

While inspired by our retail experience, the grant is open to small businesses of any kind — not just those in retail — as long as they demonstrate a commitment to people-first values and community impact.

The grant was also inspired by a recent trip to Botswana by Zachary’s COO, Constance Polamalu where she witnessed the transformational work of the Diamonds Do Good initiative — a program that empowers communities and supports families through the ethical practices of the natural diamond industry.

“This experience reminded us that business has the power to do so much more than sell a product,” said Constance. “It can be a platform for real, lasting impact — and we want to recognize others who are living that belief every day.”

Applications are now open and will be accepted until July 1, 2025. The application requires a short narrative describing the business, its community engagement, employee culture, and how the grant would enhance its impact.
