Hyatt Commercial Announces Lease with O'Reilly Auto Parts in Chester, Maryland

CHESTER, MD – July 21, 2026 – Hyatt Commercial successfully completed a 7,046-square-foot lease transaction at 1204 Shopping Center Road in Chester, Maryland. The firm represented the landlord, Douglas Development. 

The lease marks the fifth new tenant to join Chester Place Shopping Center since Douglas Development acquired the property in 2019. At the time of purchase, the 46,000-square-foot retail center had a vacancy rate exceeding 60 percent. 

Property Repositioning Continues 

George Shenas and Collin Mercier of Hyatt Commercial have represented Chester Place Shopping Center since 2019. Shenas leads the leasing efforts for the property and has helped attract a diverse mix of tenants. 

"Bringing in a second national small-box retailer is another positive sign of growth on the historically quieter westbound side of Route 50," said George Shenas of Hyatt Commercial. "The property's strong highway visibility generated significant interest from O'Reilly Auto Parts. As a result, the company selected Kent Island for its first location on Maryland's Eastern Shore." 

A Long-Standing Retail Destination 

Located directly along Route 50, Chester Place Shopping Center features more than 1,000 feet of highway frontage. The center has served the surrounding community for more than 40 years. 

The property was originally home to a family-owned pharmacy. Since then, it has evolved into a neighborhood retail destination focused on everyday goods and services. 

In addition, the center offers convenient access to Route 50/301. It also provides exposure to more than 75,000 vehicles each day. These advantages continue to attract both national and regional retailers. 

Leasing Opportunities Remain 

Following the O'Reilly Auto Parts lease, two suites remain available at the center. The available spaces total 2,583 square feet and 3,364 square feet. 

This transaction reflects continued demand for retail space on Kent Island. Furthermore, it highlights ongoing interest from retailers seeking strategic locations throughout Maryland's Eastern Shore.
