Applications Open for the City of Annapolis 2026 Summer Intern Program for Youth and Young Adults

Opportunities Available for Residents Aged 14-24

ANNAPOLIS, MD (April 23, 2026) - The City of Annapolis has launched its 2026 Summer Internship Program, which aims to build the academic, entrepreneurial, and leadership capacity of young residents and help them become fully informed and engaged community members.

This paid program provides successful applicants with a mix of training workshops, professional skills development, career pathway planning, and networking opportunities across two age-appropriate internship streams.
The first is a Young Teen Program for those aged 14 to 16, providing knowledge and skills development for participants through a daily series of workshops, field trips, assignments, meetings, and site visits. It is delivered under the supervision of certified staff, and provides opportunities to meet and learn from City staff and leaders; explore career, educational, and creative interests; and gain valuable work and interpersonal skills. Participants in the Young Team Program will earn $15 per hour.

The second is a Young Adult Program for those between the ages of 17 and 24. The program begins with an orientation and training module to help participants learn about the City, our functions, work practices, and standards before commencing work experience placement with one of our City Departments. Participants in the Young Adult Program earn $17 per hour.

“The City of Annapolis Summer Intern Program is a great opportunity for young people to gain valuable skills and work experience while also learning about their City government,” said Annapolis Mayor Jared Littmann. “If you’re between the ages of 14 and 24 and are interested in public service, or if you just want to get a head start on your career, I encourage you to apply!”

Applications for the Summer intern Program are now open. The application will close on Friday, May 8, 2026 or once the City has received 100 applicants for each program (Young Teen and Young Adult).
