Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager leads the revenue programs across Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County’s owned media platforms including digital, print, on-site media within the Visitors Center and the new Welcome Center at BWI Marshall Airport, as well as cooperative marketing programs. This role plays a key part in strengthening the organization’s diversified revenue model and expanding opportunities for partners to connect with visitors in meaningful, measurable ways.
 
Success in this role requires strong business development experience, relationship-centered sales leadership, and the ability to translate marketing strategy into results-driven partnerships. The ideal candidate is a collaborative, consultative professional who can design integrated marketing opportunities driving partner growth while advancing the visibility and economic vitality of the destination. This role is housed in the External Relations Department and reports to the Assistant Director of Partnership.
 
Revenue & Business Development
Lead growth of advertising and sponsorship revenue across digital, print, on-site, and integrated platforms, advancing annual goals and long-term revenue diversification.

  • Build and manage a sales pipeline driving new business, partner retention and engagement, and expanded investment.
  • Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, emerging markets and tools, and strategic partnerships aligned with destination priorities.
  • Design, package, and launch scalable advertising products, sponsorship offerings, and pilot programs in collaboration with program managers.
  • Collaborate on pricing, rate development, and bundled offerings to ensure competitiveness and sustainable growth.
 Partner Engagement
Cultivate strategic relationships with hospitality partners, local businesses, regional brands, and community stakeholders.
  • Serve as a consultative advisor to partners recommending integrated marketing solutions across paid, owned, and earned channels.
  • Expand the advertiser and sponsor base through outreach, referrals, and identification of high-growth sectors.
  • Actively represent the organization at industry events, partner gatherings, and tourism forums to strengthen relationships and identify new revenue opportunities.
Planning, Execution & Performance
Develop annual revenue plans, quarterly forecasts, and pacing aligned with budget projections and growth objectives.
  • Track pipeline and campaign performance using CRM and analytics tools; analyze trends and provide actionable insights to partners and colleagues.
  • Oversee proposal development, contract negotiation, and deal execution, ensuring programs align with marketing campaigns, visitor trends, and organizational priorities.
  • Optimize programs, products, and partnerships to maximize partner value, retention, and revenue growth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with marketing, program, and creative teams to ensure advertising and sponsorship initiatives are executed efficiently and meet partner expectations.
  • Collaborate on the development and testing of new products, pilot programs, and innovative partnership opportunities.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork, open communication, and shared success across all revenue-generating initiatives.
Salary & Benefits
This full-time, exempt position offers a competitive starting salary ranging from $55,000- $65,000+commission. Competitive performance-based commission tied to advertising and sponsorship revenue targets, with a tiered bonus structure. In addition, VAAAC offers generous benefits, including 20 PTO days, 13 floating holidays, employer-paid (individual) health, vision, and dental benefits, 401(k) plan with 5% match (after 90 days), basic short-term disability and life insurance benefits (after 90 days), Employee Assistance Program, parking benefits and professional development.
